Junior Astronomy Workshop
Friday, February 17, 7 – 8:30 PM


Members $10, Non-members $25

This workshop is designed for children ages 5–12. It is an introduction to the sky using the planetarium and observatory.Participants will receive a junior star chart and guidance on how to use it.

The observatory is not heated so parents and children should dress accordingly. All children must be accompanied by a paid adult, throughout the program.*

Paleontology/Fossil Workshop
Saturday, March 3, 9 AM - 12 PM

Learn the basics of paleontology – what makes a fossil a fossil, how to tell geologic time, and fossil identification.

Workshop includes take-home projects and specimens for your collection.

Solar Workshop

Come learn about our closest star, the Sun. Astronomer David Dundee will lead a lively discussion about the Sun illustrated by some of the latest images of the Sun.

Learn how the Sun works and how it affects us here on Earth. Then observe the Sun through Tellus solar telescopes. Also tour the Georgia Tech Solar House and learn how the Sun’s energy may impact our future.

Stellar Astronomy Workshop
Friday, March 30, 8:30 PM - 11:30 PM

For ages 8 and up, no exceptions

Join us for a special evening with the real stars! Learn how to observe the planets, stars and constellations. Everyone will receive a rotary star chart with hands-on instruction on how to use it.

Get to know the evening sky in the planetarium.
Explore the surfaces of the Moon, Mars, Venus, and Jupiter using the Magic Planet. Observe the night sky with our portable telescopes, then go in the Tellus Observatory and look through our 20” reflecting telescope!
